Public Disclosure: IFC and EBRD Participation in Financing the Greenvolt BESS Projects and the Environmental & Social Review Summary

Project Overview

Greenvolt Power is developing two standalone Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects, each with a capacity of 200 MW / 800 MWh, located in Ełk and Turośń Kościelna in north‑eastern Poland. The projects involve the construction, operation and maintenance of the facilities, with construction expected to be completed in the second quarter of 2026. The BESS projects are planned to operate for 19 years, participating in the Polish Capacity Market from 2028, as well as balancing and ancillary services markets.

The projects are being implemented through two special‑purpose vehicles, Magazyn EE Ełk Sp. z o.o. and Magazyn EE Turośń Sp. z o.o., both wholly owned by Greenvolt Power Group Sp. z o.o.

  • EBRD is considering a senior secured loan of up to EUR 60 million for the two SPVs.

As part of these processes, IFC and EBRD conducted an Environmental and Social Due Diligence (ESDD) review.
The ESDD results were positive and are publicly available on the institutions’ disclosure pages:
